From NDAA Ally, Lisa Fohl with inspiration and input from Nancy Hugon, Mary Sukup, Kathy Halleck, Tara Witchger, and Glenn Livers:
So faith, hope, love remain… but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Of course, all of the NDAA core values are important. In the past few months, NDAA Allies have shared how they have seen firsthand the core values of Persist, Excel, and Serve present in the schools. But as the familiar Bible quote states… the greatest of these is love. Love is the overarching value that infiltrates every aspect of the NDAA Academies. A group of six Allies that provide library assistance at Holy Angels offer some examples of the abundant love that fills our senses each time we step through the doors to volunteer;
You hear the love as the Principal greets not only the scholars by name, but each member of their family.
You see posters throughout the building that remind scholars that there are only two goals they need to keep in mind: College and Heaven. That slogan is truly brilliant. Each time we read those simple, yet powerful words, it reminds us how much forethought, planning and love went into the NDAA Model.
You can literally smell the love as the scholars enjoy healthy meals (breakfast, lunch and even sometimes dinner) that are provided for them each day. Knowing those may be the only meals they receive that day can break your heart.
You feel the love and pride as the scholars honor their heritage, their school and their nation each morning during their general assembly and prayer.
You get a real taste of the challenges that the faculty and staff experience every day when you see the items they drag out of their ‘supply closet’ when a scholar has a need that can’t be met at home.
As we enter the season of Advent, we thank you for being Christ like to so many, but especially for your loving support of the Notre Dame Ace Academies.
