We are all experiencing a new norm in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. The students of the Notre Dame ACE Academies are no different in this regard as they embrace new forms of learning.
Gina Fleming, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, said it best “There is nothing that compares to the personal interactions and relationships built in our Catholic school classrooms. However, it warms my heart to know that our teachers are using creativity and problem-solving skills to teach our children in new and different ways while homebound instruction is necessary. As such, these professionals model the ACE Academy root beliefs for our youth: SEEK, LOVE, EXCEL, SERVE, and PERSIST!”
While schools are currently closed, the dedicated staff are using a combination of learning packets, Google Classroom and other resources to continue providing education to students. Students and parents may contact teachers through email and other online platforms to receive more personalized attention and address specific questions. At the heart of all we do, we care for the children and their well-being.
Just as importantly, we are providing resources to families to meet their most basic needs.
For instance, St. Anthony is offering free breakfast and lunch to students under the age of 18. While Ascension St. Vincent has generously made two health practitioners available during distribution times to provide medical advice to families. If we find that there is a need for additional support, the school Social Worker is following up
At Catholic Central School students and their families find support through The Officer David Moore Food Pantry, which operates out of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fountain Square. Just in the last few weeks, more than 50 bags of food has been donated. For more information, you can find the Officer David Moore Food Pantry on Facebook.
It is the generosity of contributors like you that make it possible for us to proudly serve the children and families of the Notre Dame ACE Academies.
Please know of our prayers for each of you during this time.
