SPARKING CAREER INTEREST
NDAA students attend Junior Achievement JobSp
Last week, 93 8th graders from four NDAA schools attended the Junior Achievement JobSpark program at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Students were able to participate in hands-on experiences designed by different industry teams. These experiences exist as the culmination of a Junior Achievement career-readiness curriculum delivered to many of these students throughout their academic experience. Thank you to Beth Petrucce from Ascension-St. Vincent for linking our schools to this incredible opportunity.

NDAA SCHOOL NEWS
Judge Clayton Graham from the Marion Superior Court Criminal Division Seven came to Holy Angels to present to our 4-6 grade scholars about Constitution Day. Scholars were able to learn more about the Bill of Rights and ask questions related to the first ten amendments, especially the first amendment. He provided the scholars with educational packets to supplement their learning. After he took a tour of the Holy Angels to see all the classrooms inaction and even stopped in the PreK classroom.
St. Philip Neri
St. Philip Neri teachers and students have jumped into intentional independent reading this school year. Students find a comfy spot in their classrooms, dive into a book of their choice, and conference with their teachers in order to practice key literacy skills. Our oldest and youngest readers are eager to learn!
Many girls in grades K-4 have joined the We Choose Joy dance troupe! Dancers express hopes, dreams and faith through dance under the direction of Mrs. Lisa Moore and Ms. Alaina Hossler.
Rolls Royce recently provided a day of service at St. Anthony. Volunteers pulled out bushes, weeds and planted new mums in the front of the school.
Other were in classrooms, reading and talking with students. They discussed the education they received for their current position, what the company does, how many people work there and how long it takes to create an engine. Volunteers also sat in the lunchroom while the students ate and talked with them. Both volunteers and students said that they had a great day! We are grateful to Rolls Royce for giving this opportunity to our students.
Central Catholic 8th graders were able to attend Junior Achievement's annual JobSpark program. The students participated in hands-on learning experiences designed by individual industry teams to show what that industry will need from employees in the future. They walked in with mostly abstract notions and walked out physically and intellectually activated, with insights on what industries interest them, what specific jobs are like, and what education is required. Thank you to our sponsors at St. Vincent for making this day possible for our students.
