St. Josemaria Escriva said, “Not all can become rich, wise, famous… Yet, all of us- yes, all of us- are called to be saints.” This year, Central Catholic School is focused on becoming the saints that God calls us to be as we strive to live our school virtues: faith, love, perseverance, respect, and service. The school staff takes on the role of saint-trainers by teaching students about the school virtues through literature, music, art, classroom instruction, assembly, and Mass experiences.
This year, each homeroom class is focusing on the life of a saint through research, discussion, and prayer. Each grade then demonstrates its learning by presenting the story of the saint’s life to the rest of the school at morning assembly. So far this school year, students have presented on St. Clare of Assisi, St. Monica, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Joseph of Cupertino, St. Michael the Archangel and St. Theodore Guerin. Students have been excited to hear about all the great and holy things these saints have done.
To celebrate All Saints Day on November 1, class representatives will process with a poster of their saint into the school Mass. Students will give a short oral recap of the important facts about the saint after Mass. The posters will be displayed in the school hallways outside of the classrooms for the remainder of the school year.
In December, Central Catholic School will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Mass and a representation of St. Juan Diego and his encounter with the Virgin Mary. Many students from Central Catholic School will travel to other schools to share the representation. This is one of the favorite traditions at Central Catholic.
The Central Catholic community looks forward to growing toward sainthood and continuing to be the saint that God is calling us to be each day.
You are invited to a special celebration on December 12 at 1:30pm in our school gym for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
