From Holy Angels Principal, Justin Armitage
This year at Holy Angels, our theme is Cultivating Community from the Bible verse, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” -Matthew 18:20. Since the start of school, we have had multiple opportunities to live out our theme. Our team celebrated the first Mass at the new church and Sr. Gail Trippett provided us with great background on the community we serve. We have hosted two Family Nights with the first focused on creating strong relationships with our families and the second on RightFit, our after-school program. In September, we implemented a literacy program in partnership with 23 Marian University students for our K-3rd grade scholars.
One of the most significant ways we have been cultivating community at Holy Angels is with the formation of our SOAR committee. The eight 4th-6th members of the SOAR committee share ideas, interests, and concerns of their fellow scholars. They also discuss ideas and areas of growth with classmates, attend and volunteer at Family Nights, host new scholars to Holy Angels, and serve as positive role models who live out our root beliefs and core values. Being a member of the SOAR committee will help individuals develop into responsible and active members of the school community. This committee plays an important role by helping educators and our leadership team focus on our mission and continue to work toward achieving our vision.
We are very excited to continue Cultivating Community in many ways throughout the school year. To see how you can help Cultivate Community at Holy Angels, please visit our website:
