Our Goals
College
Heaven
This is the message you see when you enter an NDAA school. It is a powerful reminder not only for staff, scholars and families, but also to the community who enter our schools. My first experience seeing these words was two years ago when I started tutoring at Holy Cross Central. The goals continued to resonate with me when I tutored at Holy Angels last school year. As an ALLY, we support the goals of preparing every scholar for college and heaven. These goals are exemplified by the NDAA core value: seek, which is defined as children are immersed in a culture of continuous improvement that instills a life-long love of learning.
As an ALLY, we see first-hand the dedication the teachers and staff have for scholars and their academic studies. As a 2nd grade tutor at Holy Cross Central, we partner with the teacher. Teachers provide us information about the scholars’ weekly assignments and prepared various resources that we utilize during our time with the scholars. I mentored two scholars weekly on their reading and spelling skills. They liked when we would read a book of their choice to end our tutoring sessions. We were part of the community helping scholars developed a life-long love of learning.
Last year at Holy Angels, I remember touring the school and meeting the class ambassadors for the first time. The students are very proud of their school and excited to see us. When we entered a classroom, the designated class ambassador welcomed us, introduced themselves, extended a hand to greet us and asked if we had any questions. Ours schools not only educate on academic subjects, but also teach important life skills. I tutored groups 3rd and 4th grade scholars on their reading skills. The students always encouraged and supported each other during our sessions
The partnership between the NDAA schools and the ALLIES is a vital component of scholars reaching the goals of college and heaven. As tutors, we were welcomed by the staff to help fulfill the core value of seek. This scripture passage reminds us that through prayer, God will hear us and guide us on our journey. “Ask and it will be given; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7: 7 – 8. We seek to provide our scholars opportunities that enhance a love of life-long learning.
